Today was kind of funny because the sermon was about how peace wasn’t all in our heads or hearts. To be fair the original title of my post yesterday before I changed it was “Quiet: it’s all in my head”. The adjective I would most use to describe my head is “clear”. Later today I was considering how funny it would sound to say other fruit of the Spirit was all in our head or heart. Can you imagine patience on the inside that wasn’t demonstrated on the outside?? Or goodness?? “I have lots of goodness inside me; I just don’t put any of it into practice!” Yeah, that would be such a weird argument. In any case, my other thoughts for the day are that His Kingdom WILL come and that His kingdom is all around me. I do not mean by that last statement that nonbelievers are a part of His kingdom. That would be weird.
Although it did just occur to me that as believers with the Spirit in us, we must have access to all these things whether or not we are accessing them and putting them into practice in our lives. Fruit of the Spirit would have to come from the inside out because the Spirit is inside of me. But in order to be fruit it has to actually get to the outside of me. Otherwise wouldn’t it just be the sap in the tree? Fruit is on the outside and can be enjoyed by others. #WeirdThoughtsIHave
Peace I leave you; my peace I give you; I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14
