He is faithful

I used to do sentimental things like journal at the end of the year about the year and life and all that good stuff. When I say “used to” I am talking like 10-15 years ago. Now I am often way to busy. But I wanted to say something today, something that I think is important. I have been mourning and complaining about how hard 2016 has been, and it has been a truly brutal year in many ways.

But it has also been an incredibly good year in other ways. My character is radically different than it was on this day a year ago. My experience of God and my relationship with Him is much deeper and more intimate. I know His Word in an incredible way – a way I never dreamed I would knew it. If in doubt of how to transform your spiritual life, memorize Scripture by the chapter and meditate on it for hours, days, months and years. Take all the time you spend allowing media to influence your beliefs and invest it in learning what God says it truth. It is truly life transforming.

I wanted to celebrate that tonight. Last year during the holidays, a friend told me not to quit because I was in a spiritual birth process. It is painful, but eventually good will come out of it. I told her if I was giving birth, then I wanted a spiritual epidural. Why wasn’t there such a thing?

If I am in a spiritual birthing process, what is to be birthed hasn’t been birthed yet except the part about my character having changed. 2016 has been a really long year of fruitful pain. I don’t lie when I say it was a terrible year. I don’t lie when I say it was an amazing one. In any case, I am glad it is behind me. I definitely don’t want to have to live through it again. As long as I keep following Him, I will never have to because this part of my character has been forever changed. He works all things for my good.

But back to the memorizing Scripture… It won’t actually change your life unless you just simply take the next step God is asking you to take in your life. Knowledge changes nothing if it isn’t put into action.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him who have been called according to His purpose. For those God foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son that He might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And those He predestined, He also called. Those He called, He also justified. Those He justified, He also glorified. Romans 8

He is faithful.
