Merry eve of Christmas Eve! I am having a lovely day today. I have thought of many things. I have quit thinking of some things. I keep thinking of other things. I love how easy it is to train one’s mind. I said in a group of friends recently that I thought memorizing Scripture was a really easy way to change one’s mind. Very gentle. One of the friends commented, “It seems like you are putting a lot of work into it to me!” Maybe, but not really. It is so much easier than all the other frustrating ways of trying to change my mind. This is kind and gentle and planned and regular. I am not constantly trying to force something. It just happens gently and naturally. It is really super cool and amazing.
I have a whole spreadsheet put together with my goals and current memorization plan on it. It tells me which percent of the way done I am, and all sorts of things. Learning Jesus’ words makes me smile. I am so much smarter than I used to be.
